BASIC FUNCTION:

The Applications Analyst's responsibility is to assist with the database administration of the Business Applications using Microsoft SQL databases, as well as helping to support the administration and enhancements of Worksite, Wallbuilder, or other core applications that rely on SQL servers.

The Applications Analyst will assist the Applications and Development Manager to plan current project work, work closely with the application team, assist where possible, coordinate with vendors, and potentially design integration solutions between applications, as well as provide assistance and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor, maintain, upgrade and support all SQL servers for Estera applications, including daily SQL backup together with optimisation routines.
  • Assist with the monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of applications systems, including but not limited to, IManage Worksite, Integration Builder, WallBuilder, and other leading industry software
  • Regularly assist with the writing of SQL scripts to maintain and support the business applications
  • Where necessary, assist with re-engineering the systems design to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision
  • Assist with project planning and work on the required solutions together with the team to improve business processes
  • Assist the applications team with the support of Worksite and Wallbuilder, mostly with SQL SELECT and UPDATE scripts, VIEWS and SPROC, optimised and within best practice
  • Assist with applications upgrades, migrations and consolidations, and their respective project planning
  • Establish and maintain regular communications with the Applications and Development Manager and end users regarding IT activities
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and apply this knowledge wherever practicable and relevant
  • And any other such duties that might be reasonably required for this role


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • DBA Experience, included and not limited to, scheduled routines for optimisations and backup
  • Best practice over SQL implementations and administration
  •  Optimised SQL scripting for reporting, analysis and data changes
  • Extensive application support experience in a professional services organisation
  • Some understanding and technical knowledge of financial systems and document management systems (preferably Imanage Worksite).
  • Experience working within a change management process and with safe scripting practice in mind
  • Interest in Systems Integration, Master Data Dictionaries and / or Data Warehouses.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of Microsoft Reporting Services, HTML, XML and Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems, as well as the ability to conduct research into IT issues and products
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and able to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative multi-jurisdictional environment
